CONSTITUTION (UNDER REVIEW)

1. THE CLUB'S NAME:

This shall be "South Dorset Field Target Club" (S.D.F.T.C. being the accepted abbreviation) hereinafter referred to as the "Club".

2. THE PURPOSE OF THE CLUB:

The purpose of the Club shall be to promote and practice the airgun sport of field target shooting.

3. THE CLUB'S COMMITTEE:

The committee will consist of persons elected to the posts of Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. Other posts such as Range Officer and Safety Officer may be co-opted.

4. THE CRITERIA FOR MEMBERSHIP:

The criteria for membership are that the individual is
(i) legally permitted to possess and use an airgun,
(ii) within the age limits specified by the Club's insurers,
(iii) agrees to accept and to conform to the Club's rules and safety code,
(iv) is of a harmonious nature to the other members of the Club and
(v) agrees to pay such fees as are required.

5. DISCIPLINE AND MEMBERSHIP:

Members who fail to meet the criteria in paragraph 4 will be liable to expulsion from the Club, following a meeting of the Club's committee. In these circumstances, no membership fees will be refunded.

6. ELECTION OF COMMITTEE OFFICERS:

A meeting will be held annually to elect the committee and to transact any other business, this being the AGM.

7. MEETINGS:

Besides the AGM, other meetings may be called. Proper calling of an Ordinary or Extraordinary General Meeting is by informing all Full Members of the date, time and venue. These meetings can only be called by the Club's Secretary at the direction of the Chairman.

8. DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE OFFICERS:

The duties of the three principal officers (Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer) shall be as generally accepted. The duties of the Range Officer shall be to oversee the arrangement and layout of targets on the shooting ranges. The duty of the Safety Officer shall be to oversee the safe practise in the Club both in the handling of airguns and in the shooting of targets. Co-opted members provide specialist knowledge and advice to control specific areas within the Club. They are not involved in the final decision-making except within the areas in which they have been elected to operate, unless in the absence of full committee members on a one-for-one basis as arranged prior to the meeting.

9. VOTING RIGHTS:

All Full Members shall have one vote in any meeting excepting the Chairman who has a casting vote to maintain the status quo.

10. CLUB MEETINGS:

The Club will meet on Sundays for shooting activities. The conduct of any business will be carried out on Sundays and at other times as agreed.

11. PROCEDURE FOR NEW MEMBERS:

Prospective members must submit an application form for Membership and submit the correct annual fee. On their first visit they will be given induction courses on range and
airgun safety procedures. Visiting non-members will pay a fee of £1.50p, juniors £1.00 and if they decide to join the Club the fee will be allowed against the annual fee to a maximum of £4.50 or £3 for juniors.

12. ELECTION TO FULL MEMBERSHIP:

Full Membership of the Club is only open to those who submit a completed membership form and have submitted the correct annual fee, and their conduct may be reviewed at any time by a meeting of the Club's committee using the criteria as laid down in paragraph 4 above.

13. DUAL MEMBERSHIP:

Dual membership with other clubs is permissible, subject to:
(i) Full Membership of South Dorset Field Target Club is held) the allocation of competition scores is decided in writing before joining the Club - this may be changed later in writing by mutual agreement.

14. CLOSURE OF THE CLUB:

If the Club closes, all monies after the payment of outstanding debts and the sale of Club assets will be donated to the South West of England Field Target Association.
